A Samberg Scholar can allocate more resources to clinical research or recruit a nurse or clinical fellow. To qualify as a scholar, the pediatric physician or pediatric sub-specialist physician must have a record of outstanding patient care and pass additional criteria in expertise, leadership, teaching, and community dedication.
The 10 inaugural Samberg Scholars were announced in January 2013. Their fields of expertise included child abuse and neglect, adolescent medicine, rheumatism, orthopedic surgery, nephrology, and general pediatrics.
